Complete loss of all permanent teeth can reduce quality of life, daily functioning and self-image. It can cause nutritional problems and different health disorders. The most common issue associated with tooth loss or edentulism is loss of bone. Edentulism however, is a manageable condition with which comfort can be achieved through a number of modern and life-like solutions. Dentures are viable and affordable solution to restoring functions and quality of life that may be lost or inhibited due to edentulism.

Types Of Dentures

Removable Partial Dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth. These could be either made of Acrylic, Acrylic and Metal Framework (Cast Partial denture) or Flexible denture material (Valplast).

Removable Complete Denture prosthetics are a viable solution when complete loss of teeth has occurred, yet bone position, strength and ridge height remain good. If bone position, strength and especially ridge height are poor, we recommend implant supported dentures.

Overdentures, or implant supported dentures for ease of explanation can be considered a hybrid treatment choice between traditional implants and traditional dentures. Overdentures are a set of dentures that fit ‘over’ the implants to increase retention, stability and comfort over traditional dentures. An overdenture is often the treatment of choice for patients who have issues with lower denture stability, lost all of their teeth and/or have lost significant bone or facial support.

Overdentures Have A Number Of Benefits Over Traditional Complete Dentures

  • Provide excellent facial aesthetics
  • Removable yet completely wearable and stable
  • Clarity of speech
  • Maintain bone structure
